After Work on Friday Joe and I traveled to the Portland Jetport to pick up Julia and then made our way to Port Clyde to hop on the Ferry that will take us to Monhegan.
Here is a picture of Joe and Julia on the Ferry.. The skies were dark and there were 5 -6 foot swells... Let's just say it was not a pleasant ride over.. the Ride home was much better... but I have lots to tell you before we get to that.
We arrived to the Island around 4pm... The truck from the Monhegan house was there waiting to take our luggage... and the entire Merrill/Holden crew was on hand to walk with us up to the house.. http://www.monheganhouse.com/
We had the entire B and B to ourselves for the most part... 50 people... 70 bottles of wine and two kegs(Island brewed of course), and a variety of other spirits... I think we might be at a Merrill party!
Dinner Friday night..of course LOBSTER and CLAMS... as well as Corn on the cob, potatoes and Chicken..
The buzz on the Island this weekend was all about a movie being shot there... Locals were being asked to be Extra's if they wanted to...The movie was starring none other than Treat Williams... and no sooner had we finished dinner and we were sitting on the porch... and He walks by.. Of course we invite him to stop by, and he asks if that Keg is from the Local brewery here on the Island... When we said yes, he took us up on an offer to have some.
The evening just got better from there, we had our guitars.. people were stopping in to see what was going on... It was truly a fun evening "Merrill Style"
Saturday morning.. we all woke up in a fog... Oh not the Island.. it was beautiful and sunny.. we were all in a fog.. but that quickly cleared up as we were all informed that we would be engaging in a scavenger hunt around the island.
We were all given a card with six clues to go out and find these six little trinkets... Although "Team Hall" did not come in first.. we were among the first 10 to finish and Julia got the prize.
Great Job Kassie and John with the clues.. we had fun exploring the Island and seeing all the sights.
Now for the real reason we were here on this beautiful Island... THE WEDDING
Kassie and John had a beautiful ceremony on the lawn... they wrote their own vows and it was lovely.
(Other than the helicopter that kept going over head and making lots of noise... Treat did later apologize for that and we think there will be a shot of our wedding in the movie)
Maria, Kassie and Kerry
Okay I promised I would tell you about our ride back from the Island on Sunday.. it was a beautiful day so the Captain decided to take us around the entire Island before heading back to the Main land.. the views were breathe taking... And we had a gentleman riding on top with us who took out his banjo and serenaded us all the way.
LUVS
